Cupcake and Baby Bear

I fetch my son at school earlier. It was the last day of their examinations. It's their sembreak now. They'll come back on November 05.

As we left the school, my son saw one of his classmates and he said goodbye. The cutie girl replied, "Bye, Baby Bear."

I smiled and then asked my son why did she call him Baby Bear. He said it was just because he said goodbye to her. I then asked him if he calls her "Cupcake". My son just looked at me with confused eyes and then frowned.

So cute.

Educational or not?

Just like my son, Seandy, my daughter who is now 19 months loves to watch DVD. Her favorite now is Barney. Every morning when she wakes up she would always ask me to open the DVD to watch Barney. I love it since she gets to learn a lot of things. She can sing a lot of songs now. That's one thing we enjoyed doing together - singing.

But now, I got confused when I read the article that Walt Disney Company is now offering refunds for all those “Baby Einstein” videos that did not make children into geniuses.

It says in the article that the "Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood" group went to the Federal Trade Commission to complain about the educational claims made by the distributor of the videos. They said that the full refund offered by the company is already an acknowledgment for their complaint. It also said that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no screen time at all for children under 2. They said this could hurt children’s physical and mental health. And, could also create attention problems by the time they reach age 7.

I remember my college days when we used to have debates about the Television being an Idiot Box.

I think moderation is always best.

Coming Soon

I was so excited to buy my own domain from Pinoy Domain Store. I bought one yesterday without thinking and now I still don't know how to make it work.

I have tried to follow the instructions given but I still don't get it. Poor, poor me. i don't want to contact their support because they might give me too technical answers too. Sigh.

Help please.

Bangon Pinoy, kaya natin ‘to.

A new Beginning

It was my last day at work last Sunday. I have decided I have to move on and try a different path. I've loved my job and it pays good - the highest compensation I ever had since I started working. And, the work load is easy. It was really my comfort zone.

But I felt God is leading me somewhere else. Somewhere I can be more blessed. It was a hard decision since I had to consider the welfare of my kids. However, I also know I have to obey.

Jeremiah 29

11 For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

I may not know the future but I am glad I know who holds the future. I just need to have faith and be strong. I know a better future is ahead.

A simple keepsake from my friends in the office.

Thank you very much for the memories. I hope to see you all again.

Laughing in the rain.

I was to buy my son, Seandy, pencils, pen and crayon earlier. I asked my son to come with me. Since I know we will just be quick, i did not bring an umbrella. But half way back to our home, it started drizzling. My son panicked and since we bought his pad papers, I told him to run.

We ran and reached our house in 2 to 3 minutes, but my son was already crying. He seemed so frightened. I got out of the house to be soaked by the rain. I then asked him to get out so we could play in the rain. He was hesitant at first but when he got the feel of it, he started laughing. It was fun seeing my kid danced and played in the rain like that.

Do Not Lose Heart

God has promised to answer our prayers.

In my quiet time earlier, I was reading Luke 18. And, I am reminded that we should not lose heart when praying because God answers prayers especially if we pray earnestly.

I had a note posted on this page and it was dated January 25, 1999 - ten years ago.

I remember that was the time when I was still struggling about my break up with my first boyfriend. It just made me laugh since on my note I highlighted the word "earnestly", not because I was praying earnestly then, but because the name of my ex was "Ernest". LOL.

Well, when we parted we hold hands and prayed that God will lead us to where He thinks is best for us. Both of us are happily married now and I know God answered both of our prayers.

God is so wonderful and His love is so amazing. I still can't grasped how a person like me could deserve His love. Blessed be His name.

Please take time to listen to this song by Chris Tomlin. Thanks to Danielmoviesinc for posting this video.

My Alma Mater

I went to my Alma Mater yesterday. I was there to take some papers that I need. The school was different from when I used to study there.

After I got the papers I need, I went down to the Cafeteria to eat.

I watched all the other students there. I remembered my college days. I didn't enjoy much of it since I was a workings student then. I was asked to join several organizations but I couldn't since, I got limited time.

I remember my tuition fee was only Php500.00 then. I have to make sure I got into the Dean's list for another 50% discount! Now, my son is in Preparatory and his tuition fee is more than PhP. 10,000!

I didn't have my digital camera with me but I couldn't help to take pictures, so I just used my phone to do the job.

Here are some pictures that I took.

This is our building back then.

Now, here is the new building that looks like a mall. LOL.

The inside of the new building is impressive, I must say. It doesn't look like the same Public University where I spent my college days.

These pictures show the Cafeteria and the elevator.

I went down to the basement and I was glad to find a chapel there. I went inside the Chapel and I was surprised to see a familiar face there. Well, the faces of all the students are all new to me. A familiar face could only be a Professor I've known from before.

The man in blue is Sir Tobie. He never became my professor but I knew him. He was the one who encouraged me to join the Ms. CAS (College of Arts and Sciences) Pageant when I was in First Year College. I never really wanted to join because I was afraid it would me vain. But, I am glad I joined. It was an achievement that I will forever treasure in my heart.

Here are other things that can now be found in the school.

This is the new Track and Field inside the campus ground.

This is the Makati Park in front of the school and the Overpass pass just outside the campus.

I can say the improvement was good. I just hope that the education system improved as well.

Pano Na?

Flood of Life

So many things happened in so little time. A lot of people who were affected by typhoon Ondoy has not recovered yet.

And, there goes Pepeng. Another Super Typhoon who hit northern part of the country. I listened to news yesterday and I heard how strong Pepeng is, its tail hit Cagayan Valley part.

I was just talking to my friend, Utchie, the night before. I asked her about her mom who live in Tugegarao. I asked if they were affected by Typhoon Ondoy last Saturday. She said they were lucky it never rained that hard. She even said it was just drizzling in their place.

But a week after Typhoon Ondoy, Typhoon Pepeng hit them big time. I texted Utchie and asked how her mom is doing and she said that they cannot get out of the house and the wind was so strong that roofs are flying. Good thing nobody was hurt.

I heard about a lady who allegedly said something nasty about the Philippines when we were hit by Ondoy. It was a shout out posted in Facebook. She said something like, the Filipinos here in the Philippines deserved what happened because there are a lot of sinners here. But she claimed she was just a victim of an identity theft so let's all leave it that way.

I was studying the life of Job and I was humbled when I read Job 38.

" The LORD Challenges Job
1 Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind:

2 "Who is this that questions my wisdom
with such ignorant words?
3 Brace yourself like a man,
because I have some questions for you,
and you must answer them...

25 "Who created a channel for the torrents of rain?
Who laid out the path for the lightning?
26 Who makes the rain fall on barren land,
in a desert where no one lives?

Another Passage that I heard that could be applied to the situation that we have right now.

It reads in Luke Chapter 13.

A Call to Repentance

1 About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple.

2 "Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?" Jesus asked. "Is that why they suffered?

3Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God.

4 And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem?5 No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too."

God is an Omniscient God. We should never question Him nor doubt His love for us. He is dealing with each and everyone of us.

I pray that what happened recently would us help us grow deeper into the love of God.

Prayer for the victims of the typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana)

I was tagged by my friend Amor who was also affected by the Typhoon Ondoy. Their house had been submerged in a knee-deep water.

I was to pass this prayer started by Fr. Stephen Cuyos of Happy Faith.

Prayer for the victims of the typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana)

Loving Father, you are our shelter and our hope. We come to you with hearts full of trust in your love and mercy.

We pray for the victims of tropical storm Ondoy. May those who have lost homes and properties find shelter, enough food and clean water. Comfort those who are traumatized and those who are grieving for the loss of their families, neighbors and friends. Bless those who are sick and those who are injured that their health may be restored and their wounds cured. May you lead all who are stranded or lost back to those who love them. Guide the hands of the rescuers, the doctors and nurses and other volunteers and give them strength as they serve others with joy.

May this calamity bring people closer together, to help each other and to care for the environment. Give us the faith, the hope and the love to carry on. This we ask through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

I am tagging some blogger friends to pass this prayer too. Please pass on this prayer Etcetera,Etcetera, and Fit4all

Let us be still and know that He is God.

Hide me now under Your wings
Cover me within Your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father You are King over the flood
I will be still and know You are God

Find rest my soul in Christ alone
Know His power in quietness and trust
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm

Father You are King over the flood
I will be still and know You are God
